In this one-one format, students debate a topic provided by the Association. Lincoln Douglass Debate topics range from individual freedom versus the collective good to economic development versus environmental protection. Students may consult evidence gathered prior to debate but may not use the Internet in round. An entire debate is roughly 45 minutes and consists of constructive speeches, rebuttals, cross-examination. A range of diverse individuals with diverse backgrounds will be recruited to judge this event.
There will be both a Varsity Division and a Novice Division of Lincoln Douglas.
Lincoln Douglass gas a Quarterfinals bid in the Varsity Division.
Lincoln Douglass will follow pilot NSDA rules.
Both the Novice and the Varisty Divisions will be using the November/ December topic. The Novice Division will not be using the Novice topic.
The topic is Resolved: The United States ought to eliminate subsidies for fossil fuels.
All Varsity LD Judges will be required to post a paradigm on Tabroom.com.
